South Western Sydney Institute

South Western Sydney Institute has received national and state awards for its excellence in education and training.

The Institute has nine Colleges, and Industry Centres of Excellence for Transport, Telecommunications, Engineering, Hospitality, Hairdressing, Building and Construction. The Institute offers over 150 courses to international students across a broad range of industry areas. Graduates of South Western Sydney Institute have a high success rate in gaining admission to higher education and employment.

The Institute is located in one of Sydney’s most vibrant and culturally diverse areas. South Western Sydney is the fastest growing area in Australia and offers students an affordable lifestyle for study, work and recreation with many accommodation options.

In this multicultural area, international students can hear the familiar sounds of their language and participate in many cultural events. There are many mosques, temples, churches and meditation centres which cater for all the religious and spiritual needs of international students.

Campuses are located close to public transport, well-connected by buses and trains. South Western Sydney Colleges are within easy travelling distance of the six University of Western Sydney (UWS) campuses. A number of TAFE NSW Diploma-to-Degree courses lead to university degree programs at UWS.

  • Bankstown College: a major centre for Business, Children’s Services, Hairdressing, Accounting, Tourism and Events Management, Banking, and Administration Services
  • Campbelltown College: Ceramics, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Hospitality and Tourism, Welfare and Children’s Services
  • Granville College: Architectural Technology, Building and Construction, Engineering, Applied Sciences specialising in Biological and Environmental Testing, Chemical Technology, Electro Technology, Mechanical Technology, Information Technology, Business, Logistics, Hairdressing, and Community Welfare
  • Lidcombe College: modern training facilities for Telecommunications, Design, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Product Design and Development and Information Technology
  • Liverpool College: the Institute English Language Centre (ELICOS) is located at this College and other courses include Business and Foundation programs
  • Padstow College: Information Technology, Hospitality and Horticulture
  • Wetherill Park College: Nursing, Aged Care, and Hospitality

Specialist Facilities

  • Bankstown College has modern training facilities for Hairdressing and Children’s Services with a working Child Care Centre
  • Lidcombe College is the state centre for training for:
    - Telecommunications at the SingTel Optus Partnership Technology Education Centre
    - CISCO Regional Academy supporting the Adaptive Technology Centre
  • Campbelltown, Padstow and Wetherill Park Colleges have fully-equipped training restaurants and commercial kitchens which cater for corporate functions and the general public

TAFE International Education Centre (TIEC), Liverpool

In 2008 the TAFE International Education Centre (TIEC), Liverpool celebrated 10 years (1998 – 2008) of delivering quality English language training.

  • Equal best-performing Registered Training Organisation and TAFE Institute nationally

Student Achievement Awards – International Student

  • International student, Diana Porta, from Italy, was named the 2007 International Student of the Year at South Western Sydney Institute. Diana’s teachers said she was an outstanding student who gained distinctions in all but four subjects in the Diploma of Accounting. She was a hard worker and did exceptional work in class and in her assignments.
