Sydney Institute is one of Australia’s largest, oldest and most respected government providers of vocational education and training. The Institute has seven colleges located in and around the city centre, close to Australia’s famous tourist attractions – Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, Chinatown and Bondi Beach.

Sydney Institute is a great place to study and that’s why each year more than 2,000 international students from over 65 countries study with us. However, the vast majority of our students are Australian – so our international students have lots of opportunities to make Australian friends.

Specialist Programs

Sydney Institute has seven great Sydney locations:

  • Ultimo College is the most popular college for international students in New South Wales. It is in the centre of Sydney, close to shopping, sight-seeing and all public transport. It is next to University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and within walking distance to the University of Sydney.
    Ultimo has the largest English Language Centre in TAFE NSW, called SITEC. SITEC English courses give students direct entry to TAFE.
    Ultimo College offers a wide range of courses to international students including
    Accounting, Business, Hospitality, Cookery, Patisserie, Tourism, Engineering, Welfare and Hairdressing. Ultimo also offers one of the best Fashion Design courses in Australia and our graduates include international fashion designers, such as Akira Isogawa.
  • Randwick College is located between the city and Bondi Beach, not far from the University of New South Wales. It is the only centre for Dental Technology in the state. Randwick also has a brand new studio for Screen Editing and excellent courses in Fitness, Business and Children’s Services.
  • Petersham College is in the inner west of Sydney, not far from the city centre and very close to the University of Sydney. Petersham has excellent Information Technology courses and is a CISCO Networking Academy. It is also a centre for Interpreting courses, Business, Accounting and Hairdressing.
  • St George College is located in the pleasant southern suburbs of Sydney, close to shops, restaurants and the international airport. St. George has excellent Business, Building, Tourism and Community Welfare courses. It is also an important centre for Graphic Design.
  • Design Centre Enmore is one of Australia’s leading design institutions. It is close to the city centre and within walking distance from some of Sydney’s liveliest areas. Design Centre Enmore offers a wide range of courses including Jewellery Design, Interior Design, Product Design, Graphic Design and Design for Live Production.
  • Sutherland College has 2 campuses – Loftus and Gymea. These are in a beautiful area of Sydney in the southern part of the city, close to a national park and wonderful beaches. It is very easy to reach the centre of Sydney as train and bus services are close by. Sutherland has fantastic courses in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality, Children’s Services, Sport and Fitness.
  • TONI&GUY Sydney International School of Hairdressing (Paddington) is a unique training environment where cutting-edge TONI&GUY hair styles and approaches are taught. Paddington is one of the most fashionable parts of Sydney, and is very close to the city centre.

    Awards

Akira Isogawa, from Japan, is a Sydney Institute graduate and one of Australia’s most celebrated fashion designers. He has achieved international recognition for his exquisite contemporary designs and was named Designer of the Year at the Australian Fashion Industry Awards.
