Packing
The following checklist will help you with your travel plans:
- Passport and student visa (plus photocopies)
- Airline flight ticket to arrive before the date of the orientation program
- Documents received from the International Students Centre:
- Letter of offer for your TAFE NSW course
- Official receipts for tuition fees or letter/email confirming the receipt of fees (an official receipt is provided by the International Students Centre upon arrival)
- A copy of your eCOE (electronic confirmation of enrolment)
- Your Australian address, the name of your homestay family and their contact telephone numbers if this is known
- The address and telephone phone number of your TAFE NSW college and the International Students Centre
- A small amount of cash, about A$200 - A$300, to cover your arrival and settling in expenses. As a rule, do not carry large amounts of cash with you.
- Travellers cheques and credit cards
- Certified copies of academic qualifications – your school or university academic transcripts, and English test results
- Several passport size photographs
- Identification (ID) papers such as birth certificate, driver's licence from your own country, International Driver's Permit, proof of citizenship, marriage certificate (if your partner is travelling with you). You should also have certified translated copies of all documents.
- Photocopies of your passport, student visa and travel documents. Keep them in a safe place, separate from the originals. Leave a second copy with your family in case you lose them.
- Copies of medical records
- Adapter for electrical items from your country. Electrical voltage in Australia is 240 volts with a 50-Hertz frequency. Electrical plugs have 3 flat, angled prongs.
- Suitable clothing for summer and winter
Summer – T-shirts, cotton shirts/blouses, dresses, shorts, light sandals, sports/covered shoes
Winter – Woollen jumpers/sweaters, thick jackets, raincoat, thick socks, gloves, scarves, sports/covered shoes
Spring and autumn – Light jumpers/sweaters, light jackets, sports/covered shoes.
- Pack your own bags and do not carry packages for strangers. Label your luggage clearly with your full name and your Australian address.
