Award Wages
In NSW both employers and employees have rights and responsibilities to each other under common law and an award is one way this is regulated. There are many different types of awards that cover different industries and workplaces and your employer is obligated to provide this to you either on your workplace intranet or on display in the office.
Awards cover conditions of employment including:
- hours of work
- pay rates, penalty rates, overtime and other loadings, such as annual leave loading
- allowances, for example, tools or uniform allowances
- leave entitlements
- employment protection provisions, for example, redundancy payments
- part-time or casual work.
If you are unsure of which award you are covered by, please refer to the Industrial Relations website below

If you are unable to find an award that covers your job it may be under federal jurisdiction. To check, and to look for federal awards, please search for the company you work for on the below website
