Accommodation Placement
TAFE NSW can arrange short-term homestay accommodation for when you arrive in Australia.
What is short-term homestay?
You live with a homestay family for a few weeks or a few months after you arrive in Australia.
Why should I use short-term homestay?
You have somewhere to stay while you:
- Settle into your new life in Australia
- Decide whether you would like to use homestay accommodation during your time in Australia
- Make your own arrangements to rent or share accommodation
What is homestay?
'Homestay' is when you live with an Australian family in their home.
Homestay gives you a good opportunity to practise your English in an informal, supportive environment.
The homestay family provides you with:
- Your own room with a study desk
- Meals (two meals each day on weekdays and 3 meals each day on weekends)
- Laundry facilities
Usually, you are asked to share in some household chores.
What does homestay cost?
- Costs range from A$200 - A$230 per week
- Homestay accommodation for students under 18 years of age includes guardianship arrangements ranges from A$260 - A$280 per week
To book the Accommodation Placement service, tick the box on your application form. We will send you a Service Request Form with your offer letter, asking you to confirm that you want us to arrange for accommodation.
The fee for Accommodation Placement (for students over 18) is A$180. The fees for this service is charged with your tuition fees which need to be paid in order to proceed with this request.
