English Language Requirements

Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses require:	Some courses, including Community Welfare, Design and Fine Arts require:
IELTS 5.5 OR TOEFL (iBT) 46 OR STEP / EIKEN Grade Pre 1 OR IGCSE Grade C OR First Certificate in English (FCE) OR Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) OR Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) OR PTE Academic overall score of 42 OR TAFE NSW Certificate 3 in Advanced English for Further Study OR Evidence that English was the medium of instruction at your senior school and that you gained satisfactory grades in English in final examinations	IELTS 6.0 OR TOEFL (iBT) 60 OR PTE Academic overall score of 50 OR TAFE NSW Certificate 3 in Advanced English for Further Study
	The Diploma of Interpreting, Translating and Bachelor Degree courses require:
	IELTS 6.5 OR TOEFL (iBT) 79 OR PTE Academic overall score of 58 OR TAFE NSW Certificate 4 in English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
	The Advanced Diploma of Interpreting courses require:
	IELTS 7.0 OR TOEFL (iBT) 94 OR PTE Academic overall score of 65 OR TAFE NSW Certificate 4 in English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

Please note:

TAFE NSW only accepts academic IELTS test scores.

Depending on your nationality, the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship might accept only an IELTS result as proof of English competency for student visa purposes.

Please note:

Entry to some courses has a prerequisite (for example, completion of a prior course).

Check the details listed under "Entry Requirements" on each course information page for specific academic and other requirements.

If you do not have a Year 12 equivalent qualification, but have other post-school qualifications, your application can still be considered.
