How to apply for Certificate or Diploma courses

1. Choose a course and campus

  • Select a course that suits your career goals and interests – to find a course click here.
  • Select a TAFE NSW campus where you wish to study from the list of course locations. To view location maps click here.

2. Check the entry requirements

Make sure that your academic results and English level meet the entry requirements for your selected course. Some courses also have a prerequisite (previous course) as an entry requirement.

    • If you do not meet the academic requirements, you might like to consider a lower level course (for example, a Certificate course instead of a Diploma course).
    • If you do not meet the English competency requirements, you can choose to study intensive English (English for Further Study) at a TAFE NSW English Language Centre before you start your Certificate or Diploma course.

3. Complete and submit the application

  • Download an application form.
  • Fill out and sign the application form. Make sure that you read and understand the Terms and Conditions. If you are under the age of 18 the application form must also be signed by a parent or guardian.
  • Attach certified copies of your academic results, English assessment and other required documents (refer to the checklist on the application form).
  • Return your application form and supporting documents to the International Students Centre (make a copy for your own records first).

4. Receive an offer

  • If your application is successful, we will send you an offer of a place (Letter of Offer) for your nominated course and campus. It will come with an invoice statement that advises you about fee payments, information about your student visa application and, if you have requested it, airport pickup and accommodation fees.
  • Be patient. It will take us a few days or sometimes up to a week in busy periods after we receive your application to process it and respond to you.

5. Accept your offer

  • To accept the offer, pay the fees and charges listed on the invoice. Details of how to pay are included with your offer.
  • When we receive your payment we will issue you with an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE) form. You use this document to apply to the Australian Embassy or Consulate offshore, or the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) in Australia, for your student visa that allows you to enter or stay in Australia.

If you have any questions about the application process, please contact us. You can also seek help from a registered agent in your own country.
