Living in the Hunter Area
Newcastle, a spectacular harbour and beach city, recently claimed the ninth spot in Lonely Planet's Top 10 Cities in the world for 2011.
The city offers a breathtaking coastline with exquisite beaches, superb dining, exciting nightlife and a vibrant arts and cultural community. People are friendly, relaxed and will welcome you to their city.
Newcastle has a thriving arts and entertainment culture with many artists and galleries. Included in this art culture are photographers, fashion designers, digital artists, musicians, actors and more.
With all the amenities of Sydney but without the hustle and bustle, traffic, and overcrowding, Newcastle offers sophistication and a relaxed surf culture.
Extending inland, the Hunter Valley is a world-famous wine growing district and a popular tourist destination with five-star resorts, hotels, bed and breakfast cottages and excellent restaurants. Along the coast, Port Stephens is a maritime wonderland with national parks and spectacular walks.
To assist our international students to gain employment, Hunter Institute offers a free Responsible Service of Alcohol course. This qualification provides students with the skills required to apply for part-time work in the region's restaurants, cafés and hotels.
