The Hunter Region includes coastal towns and cities, and the inland Hunter Valley. It is about two hours by car or train north of Sydney.

The Hunter Region's coastal resorts around Port Stephens attract holidaymakers for dolphin and whale watching. The Hunter Valley is a famous wine-growing and tourist region.

Newcastle

Newcastle, a coastal city with a population of 350,000, is the largest city in the Hunter Region.
