Scholarships

There are a number of scholarships and financial assistance programs available for students who want to study in Australia.

Endeavour Awards

The Australian Government, through the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST), offers awards under its Endeavour program for TAFE NSW / VET courses at Diploma and Advanced Diploma level. Awards provide financial support to successful applicants for tuition fees and living expenses.

Students from specific countries who meet eligibility criteria can apply. Awards are made subject to specific selection criteria.

Applications for the 2010 round of awards open in April 2009.

Australian Development Scholarships (ADS)

Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) provide support to citizens of specific countries to undertake study in Australia. The following TAFE NSW institutes will be able to offer placements to ADS students in 2008:

Professional and Career Development Loans
(UK students)

Students from the United Kingdom can apply to the UK Department for Education and Skills for financial assistance in the form of a Professional and Career Development Loan (CDL).

TAFE NSW is a CDL registered provider - when applying for a loan, please quote our registration code 11445.

StudentAid BC (Canadian students)

Canadian students from British Columbia can apply for financial assistance under the StudentAid BC programs. Please quote our provider registration code when applying for these loans:

  • VVBV for TAFE NSW – Sydney Institute
  • VVBP for TAFE NSW – Northern Sydney Institute

THE-ICE 'Scholarships of Excellence'

Applications are currently open to international students wishing to study a prestige THE-ICE fully accredited TH&E program in Australia. Semester 2, 2010 Scholarship Opportunities include:

Northern Sydney Institute (NSI)
Students may choose from the following hospitality and events programs on offer for commencement of study in Semester 2, 2010.

  • Advanced Diploma of Hospitality (2 Year Program)
    Scholarship offers a grant of A$28,120 towards NSI tuition fees
  • Diploma of Events (1 Year Program)
    Scholarship offers a grant of A$12,380 towards NSI tuition fees

Chile Bicentennial Scholarships (Becas Chile)

The Government of the Republic of Chile has announced that it will fund 400 scholarships for Chilean citizens to study vocational and technical programs in Australia. This program is aimed to improve Chile’s global competitiveness by strengthening its human development and improving the scope and quality of education, technical and vocational innovation.

The scholarships will assist students in improving their levels of English as well as to further develop industry and training experience in Tourism, Financial and Global Services.
Under the Becas Chile program, the Government of Chile will:

  • Meet the cost of living expenses for scholarship holders while they are enrolled in Australia
  • Fund TAFE NSW tuition fees
  • Provide a round trip air ticket (economy) from Chile to the Australian destination for each scholarship holder.
  • Fund English language training courses in Chile prior to studying in Australia
  • Provide up to six-months’ allowance for living expenses
