TAFE NSW: Best Export Category Finalist – 2009 Australian Event Awards

TAFE NSW is one of four finalists in the Best Export Category at the 2009 Australian Event Awards with the winner to be announced on Thursday, 8 October 2009.

The 2009 Australian Event Awards is a national awards program designed to reward innovation and recognise excellence. The Awards also acknowledge the high standard of expertise required of industry professionals responsible for small and large-scale events.

Staking a claim for Australia’s place in the international events market, TAFE NSW continues to build on its reputation as a world leader in workforce training products and services for major international events.

TAFE NSW secured its finalist position for workforce planning and training services delivered for the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China.

Training services and products included:

  • leadership and event management training programs
  • job-specific training modules, e.g. 300+ jobs
  • workforce management support
  • risk management training
  • volunteer training
  • training master plans and action plans.

Award organisers cite finalists in the Best Export Category as leading the world in event management, staff and volunteer training, entertainment and promotion.

Other projects that have benefited from TAFE NSW’s workforce development expertise have included: Sydney 2003 Rugby World Cup, Abuja 2003 All Africa Games and Athens 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
