Gold for TAFE at 2009 WorldSkills Competition
International student from the Philippines, Jesty Karl Salvatierra, studying Diploma of Information Technology (Networking) at TAFE NSW – Western Sydney Institute, Mount Druitt College, won the GOLD medal at the 2009 WorldSkills competition held in Canada in September.

TAFE NSW students claim 9 medals at WorldSkills Calgary 2009
Competition at the WorldSkills International event in Calgary has closed with an outstanding result for TAFE NSW students who claimed 9 medals, including a gold medal by Heh-Nian (James) Sun from TAFE NSW – Northern Sydney Institute in the Restaurant Service category.

Skillaroos world challenge!
The 40th WorldSkills International competition will be held in Calgary, Canada, 1-7 September 2009. Australia will be represented by the “Skillaroos” - a team of 26 young adults of whom 18 are studying with TAFE NSW Institutes.

New Diploma of Electronics and Communications Engineering course for international students
The new TAFE course will be available from July 2009 intake. This course is for people who want to work in the electronic equipment trades profession. Students learn how to select, install, set up, test, fault-find, repair and maintain electrical systems, equipment and devices.

Liverpool ELICOS supports Egg-cellent activity
In April, TAFE International Education Centre at Liverpool College, held its annual Easter Egg Guessing Competition. International students gave a gold-coin donation to guess how many Easter eggs were in the jar and the winners received delicious prizes.

Most Outstanding Student Award 2008
Dilini Kannangara has embarked on 2009 with two things in her favour, a new Certificate 4 in Commercial Cookery qualification at distinction level and an award for Most Outstanding Student in Commercial Cookery.
