Shalvindra Reddy - Fiji
Diploma of Information Technology (Networking)
Shalvindra Reddy studied at the Training and Productivity Authority of Fiji (TPAF) and undertook the Diploma of Information Technology (Networking) through TAFE NSW – Western Sydney Institute.
He described his studies as a rewarding experience.
“The learning environment was tailored to the needs of the students and the trainers were friendly and understanding. They understood the learning capacities of individual students and this allowed us to perform well.”
“The work was highly pressured and difficult at times, but with the skills I gained through my studies at TAFE NSW, I managed to handle the tasks seamlessly,” he said.
Shalvindra found employment immediately after graduation. He is now working as an Information Communication Technology (ICT) technician for the Fiji Electricity Authority, handling technical support for the western region of Fiji.
“My job is very varied. I carry out numerous ICT tasks and manage a large-scale ICT infrastructure. I am pleased to say that doing the Diploma in Information Technology (Networking) at TAFE NSW has equipped me for all the career challenges I will be facing,” he said.
Shalvindra’s hard work was been recognised when he was announced as a TAFE NSW State Medal, the single highest honour awarded to students by TAFE NSW.
TAFE NSW – Western Sydney Institute has had a strategic partnership in Fiji with the TPAF since 1999. Over the years the partnership has grown and now 1,100 students are enrolled in more than 20 courses across seven disciplines. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the successful partnership.
