Diploma of Information Technology
(Software Development)
Paramjeet Singh, an international student from Punjab, India, achieved an outstanding result in the Diploma of Information Technology (Software Development) and has been rewarded with the TAFE NSW – Western Sydney Institute International Student of the Year Award 2008.
Paramjeet was very committed to his study which is evident by his exemplary achievement in what is considered to be one of the most difficult Information Technology courses. He always demonstrated a positive attitude towards his studies and showed respect to staff and colleagues at all times. He was an excellent student and his information technology (IT) teachers considered him a pleasure to teach.
Paramjeet chose the course to build and sharpen his IT skills. His teachers reported he brought innovative ideas and direction to class and was able to work effectively with other students as a team member, a team leader, and a project manager.
“I learnt programming skills throughout the course, which was a dream of mine. The knowledge I gained from my teachers at TAFE NSW – Western Sydney Institute continues to be really helpful,” said Paramjeet.
As a Diploma-to-Degree student, Paramjeet is now undertaking further study in Information Technology at the University of Western Sydney to become a programmer.
Paramjeet is considered to be an excellent ambassador for TAFE NSW. As a very keen and determined international student, Paramjeet also assisted his colleagues by taking on the role of a mentor which enabled other students in class to progress rapidly towards their goals.
