Haruka Sasaki - Japan
Diploma of Fine Arts
When her counselor told her about TAFE NSW, Haruka Sasaki was still planning to study in Japan. However, she did some research and realised what a valuable opportunity TAFE offered. Haruka found that TAFE NSW offered courses that were much more practical. She enrolled and is currently working towards a Diploma of Fine Arts at TAFE NSW – Northern Sydney Institute, Northern Beaches College.
TAFE NSW is the largest education and training provider in Australia and offers over 1,200 practical, work-oriented training courses in over 130 campus locations in Sydney and New South Wales. TAFE NSW – Northern Sydney Institute has five campus locations in Sydney’s metropolitan area and offers over 100 courses for international students from certificates to advanced diplomas.
Northern Beaches, where Haruka studies a few days a week, is renowned for being one of the safest and most desirable areas of Sydney. The area has many large shopping centres and recreational areas and students are able to live and study close to Sydney’s most beautiful parks and beaches, such as Manly and Palm Beach.
Students are taught by highly-qualified and skilled teachers to achieve valuable qualifications with government guaranteed quality. Haruka agrees that the teachers are an important part of her experience at TAFE NSW.
“The teachers are excellent,” she said. “Because I can’t speak English fluently, I don’t really get the chance to talk to the teachers in all my classes. But some of my teachers spend time talking to me during coffee breaks and guiding me to get me on the right track. They’re very encouraging.”
Haruka’s experience at Northern Beaches College has been extremely rewarding and she would recommend TAFE NSW to anyone interested in studying under a practical setting.
Haruka plans on returning to Japan after completing her Diploma of Fine Arts.
