Gurmeet - India
Diploma of Children's Services
Gurmeet travelled to Australia from India to study the Diploma of Children's Services at TAFE NSW – North Coast Institute after hearing about the educational institute from her relatives. "I wanted to come to Australia for independence in my life, and I love working with children," she said.
When Gurmeet's Australian study experience began, she had many goals in mind. "I wanted to learn new things, gain confidence and be qualified to work with children," she said.
Gurmeet's expectations have been fulfilled. "I've learnt a lot and I know I will find a good job when I finish my studies," she said.
She has been enjoying her time at TAFE NSW – North Coast Institute and has been encouraged by the friendly and supportive teachers. "The campus and its facilities are also impressive," Gurmeet added.
TAFE NSW – North Coast Institute is a one-hour flight from Sydney spans the northern New South Wales coast, including the towns of Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour. It is a relaxed and friendly region, close to popular holiday spots such as Byron Bay and the Queensland Gold Coast. TAFE NSW – North Coast Institute was awarded Australia's Best Large Training Provider in 2004 and has modern industry-standard training workshops, childcare centres and other specialist training facilities.
Gurmeet lives in Coffs Harbour. "I think the town is beautiful and that the Australian people are very friendly and helpful," she said. "I love Australian food and living in a place where I can see native Australian animals such as kangaroos in natural Australian bushland."
She recommends studying at TAFE NSW to any international student. "It's a really good place to come and study," she said. "There are plenty of job opportunities in Australia too."
