Meet Our Students

Francesca Kennedy – Ireland
Advanced Diploma of Ceramics

Francesca Kennedy
"The staff are the best teachers imaginable. They share their wealth of information and skills with their students."

I used to work as a nurse, but thought "I need a change". I decided to pursue the career I'd always dreamed of as an artist in ceramics. I'd visited Australia many times and it seemed the perfect place to study. After searching the internet, I realised that TAFE NSW, which teaches contemporary and traditional ceramic techniques, was the best place to learn ceramics.

Sydney Institute Gymea campus has the largest ceramics department in Australia. The staff are the best teachers imaginable. They are all practicing ceramic artists. They share their wealth of information and skills with their students. They see you through every stage of your work, from design concept to completion. Believe me, no one knows more than the amazing staff at Gymea campus!

I've developed great relationships with the teachers and students. The standard of work produced at Gymea TAFE is fantastic, and I'm lucky enough to call these people my friends.

After competing the Advanced Diploma in Ceramics I intend to open a ceramic artists co-op for myself and other potters.
