Arvind Maharaj - Fiji
Diploma of Information Technology (Network Engineering)
Arvind Maharaj from Fiji was recently named 2007 International Student of the Year at TAFE NSW – South Western Sydney Institute.
Arvind made an active contribution to college life by participating in student activities and becoming captain of the Macquarie Fields soccer team, helping them win the South Western Sydney Institute finals in 2005. Comments from Arvind's teachers indicate he was a model student who was helpful towards other students and completed his studies in a shorter time than his peers, despite working part-time. Arvind is currently working in IT and continuing his studies at university.
"This award means a lot to me in terms of my career and my achievements. My course motivated me to achieve my goals and gave me practical experience. I plan to continue studying at TAFE NSW, taking further courses in IT and management, and hope to reach management level in the IT industry."
