Angela Pukari - Papua New Guinea
Advanced Diploma of Accounting

Angela Pukari was attracted by Newcastle's great coastline and outdoor lifestyle. "Newcastle is a great place to study. I had heard from other people back home about the beautiful beaches, and it is really true."
Angela heard about TAFE NSW through an education exhibition in Papua New Guinea. She decided to study accounting so she would have transferable skills and be able to find a job when she returns home.
Angela has found Newcastle an exciting place to live. She has managed to make friends from all over the world. "Everyone is very good and very helpful," Angela said.
TAFE NSW – Hunter Institute is located approximately two hours north of Sydney. Newcastle is the second largest city in New South Wales. The Hunter Region features NSW's premier wine growing area and outstanding tourist attractions in Newcastle, Gosford and Port Stephens.
The Hunter region offers great facilities, plenty of part-time employment opportunities and lower living costs for international students. Hunter Institute has a diverse group of international students from the Middle East, Europe and Asia with an annual enrolment of 50,000 local and international students.
Angela is impressed with the teaching and learning facilities at TAFE NSW – Hunter Institute and describes it as very modern and equipped with the latest technology. "And there's a good canteen which is a great place to relax and meet friends."
Angela's accounting teachers have also helped her to settle in to her course. "They are available to answer my questions and they are very helpful," she says.
