Themed Study Tours - Students

A Themed Study Tour integrates the educational, cultural and related activities of a study tour through a common theme or focus such as environment, sport, art, country life, performing arts, technology and agriculture. Typical programs include:

  • Environment – visit a comprehensive high school, visit an Environmental Education Centre, Taronga Zoo Education Centre and/or excursions to Sydney Aquarium, Wildlife World and National Parks.
  • Sport – visit a sports high school, undertake activities and excursions to Sydney Olympic Park, Sydney Cricket Ground, and/or a Sport and Recreation Centre.
  • Art – visit a Creative Arts high school, undertake activities and excursions to NSW Art Gallery and a range of Sydney art galleries.
  • Country Life – visit a regional high school and undertake activities and excursions to historic country towns, typically Australian settlements, founded by gold miners, graziers and farmers.

Inclusions

  • welcome ceremony, assembly and school tour
  • morning tea with a ‘buddy’ - an Australian student of a similar age as the visiting student
  • participation in classes with local students
  • conversational English lessons conducted by a qualified teacher (one teacher for every 20 students)
  • excursion supervision (one teacher for every 20 students)
  • farewell ceremony and exchange of gifts
  • participation certificate for each student
  • one adult for every 10 students is free of charge

Excursion entry fees and transfers to/from host school are included, where applicable.
Airport transfers are not included.

Group size

  • minimum group size is 15 students
  • large groups may be hosted by two or more schools

Age

  • students must be at least 10 years of age

Duration

  • from half day to 10 weeks

  • during New South Wales school term

Homestay

Homestay for student groups can be arranged on request.
Homestay families provide:

  • accommodation for one or two students (single or double placement cannot be guaranteed)
  • three meals a day
  • transport to and from school

Adult accommodation is not included.

  • size of group
  • number of days
  • location of host school
  • study tours itinerary
