A primary school program for international students is offered at selected schools across Sydney. It is a condition of enrolment that a parent lives with their child for the duration of enrolment.
NSW government primary schools are all co-educational (mixed sex) schools.
Commencement dates
Students can commence at any time during the academic year up to the start of Term 4.
Entry Requirements
To be accepted into a NSW government primary school, students must meet the following minimum entry requirements:
Academic
- Kindergarten
No academic requirements apply. - Primary (Years 1 to 6)
Students must show evidence of satisfactory progress in their previous school studies.
English language competency
- Years 1 to 5
No English language requirements apply. - Year 6
Students entering Year 6 (from 12 years of age) may be required to complete an intensive English program if they have insufficient English to undertake the curriculum.
Accommodation and welfare
Primary school students (Kindergarten to Year 6) must have a parent residing with them at all times.
