DEC International has capacity building and training and development experience that is highly relevant for the PNG public sector. Focusing on the Pacific region we have developed and delivered training, using a capacity building approach, for many countries including PNG.
PNG Australia Targeted Training Facility Projects: 2002–2007
DEC International provided customised competency-based training for recipient PNG agencies. The training included:
- Establishing appropriate standards and accreditation
- Providing extensive mentoring of participants
- Ensuring content relevance to PNG workplace contexts and issues
DEC International also established links and relationships between PNG Government departments and Australian Government agencies.
Senior Executive Leadership Program (PNG Department of Education): 2005
DEC International conducted onsite observations and discussions with PNG officials to identify emerging issues that required effective leadership from the senior executive of the PNG Department of Education. These issues included the ongoing review and strengthening of Department of Education organisational capacity, and implementing the next National Education Plan. We conducted a structured workshop program in which each participant developed an individual development plan.
