UAE School Leadership Project:

DEC International recently completed a project for the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) in the United Arab Emirates (UASE). The aim of the project was to develop a clear picture of its school principals’ leadership skills.

A team of 11 Department of Education and Communities consultants with extensive school leadership experience assessed the leadership skills of 328 ADEC school principals across three Abu Dhabi education zones.

VETI Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi government is funding a partnership between Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and TAFE NSW, through DEC International, to establish a vocational education and training institute in Abu Dhabi. The VETI commenced operations in September 2007 with 326 Emirati students and now has grown to over 1,350.

Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) K–12 Curriculum: 2006 to 2008

DEC International developed curriculum standards for the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The project delivered, in print and web-based formats, curriculum standards, resources and teaching guides for several curriculum areas as well as a parent’s booklet. The project also delivered advice on information technology standards and will carry out a review and analysis of matriculation processes.

Doha 2006 Asian Games

TAFE NSW developed a workforce training plan for a Consortium which had been commissioned to develop a Games Master Plan for the Organising Committee.

Al Ain Summer Challenge Program: 2005 and 2006

In 2005 and 2006, the Summer Challenge program, lasting two months, trained almost 1,000 students in the provincial city of Al Ain in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

In each year approximately 35 TAFE NSW teachers relocated to the United Arab Emirates to deliver training in a range of subjects, including:

• IT services
• Business skills
• Video and sound editing
• Automotive skills
• Fashion design
